Magnetic sheets for arts & crafts, highlighting and labelling

Magnetic sheet consists of magnetic particles mixed with flexible plastic and, depending on the type, has either a coloured or a self-adhesive side. The magnetic side of the sheet adheres to smooth, ferromagnetic surfaces such as whiteboards, wall charts or metal cabinets. You can use colourful magnetic sheet, for example, to mark, label or write content in presentations, seminars or school lessons. Magnetic sheet is also ideal for craft projects, as it can easily be cut into any shape. Alternatively, you can opt for pre-cut magnetic symbols in various shapes.
In addition to coloured magnetic sheet, our assortment also includes self-adhesive magnetic sheet made of ferrite or neodymium. Use them to attach non-magnetic objects to ferromagnetic surfaces. Suitable items are photos, cards and signs, for example.

Please note: Magnetic sheets will be demagnetised when you attach magnets to them. In contrast, iron sheet or ferrous tape, for example, are suitable as surfaces for magnets.

Types of magnetic sheet at supermagnete

You can purchase various types of magnetic sheet from the supermagnete online shop. Below is a table summarising the key features to help you compare the products:

The colourful, self-adhesive sheets in the supermagnete assortment are all anisotropically magnetised. As a result, they offer a significantly higher adhesive force than many conventional magnetic sheets. The self-adhesive neodymium magnetic sheet from supermagnete is particularly strong: it has an extremely high adhesive force and is approximately five times stronger than the self-adhesive magnetic sheet made of ferrite.


Tips for cutting magnetic sheet cleanly

Magnetic sheet can be cut to size with scissors or a boxcutter. Curved lines and shapes are best cut with scissors. Using a boxcutter and a metal ruler, on the other hand, will give you very straight and clean cut edges. We also recommend using a non-slip cutting mat as a pad. This will protect your work surface from scratches and cuts caused by the boxcutter.


Frequently asked questions about coloured magnetic sheet and self-adhesive magnetic sheet

How do I calculate the required adhesive force for self-adhesive magnetic sheets?

The required adhesive force depends on the weight of the object, the mounting surface and the load direction. The size of the magnetic sheet used also plays a role, as the adhesive force is specified in g/cm². You can calculate the required surface area using our guide to the adhesive force of magnetic tape and magnetic sheet.

Is it possible to write on magnetic sheet?

Yes, you can write on coloured magnetic sheet with whiteboard markers, felt-tip pens and other pens. Depending on the type of pen, the writing may be erased again. You can find detailed information on our FAQ page How can I write on magnetic tapes and sheets?.

Self-adhesive magnetic sheet, on the other hand, is not suitable for writing on directly with pens. As an alternative, you can attach paper printouts to the adhesive side.

Can you print on magnetic sheet yourself?

Yes, you can print on coloured magnetic sheet and magnetic paper yourself. For more information, please refer to our FAQ page Can I print on magnetic tapes and sheets?. Self-adhesive magnetic sheet, on the other hand, is not suitable for printing.

Can magnetic sheet be used outdoors?

Coloured magnetic sheet and self-adhesive ferrite magnetic sheet are only suitable for outdoor use to a limited extent. UV radiation causes the material to become brittle over time. If used outdoors on a permanent basis, you can expect having to replace these sheets after a while.

Self-adhesive neodymium magnetic sheet, on the other hand, is not suitable for outdoor use. If exposed to moisture, the neodymium it contains can rust, rendering the magnetic sheet unusable.

Does magnetic sheet adhere to magnetic glass boards?

No, the glass layer creates too much distance between the metal board behind it and the magnetic sheet, so it will not stick. Instead, use or office magnets specifically designed for use on magnetic glass boards.
